The Story Behind OOPLAH!

The Story Behind OOPLAH!

Our little family has recently returned to New Zealand after spending four years in the countryside of Poitou-Charentes in France. In between renovating our old house, having two children and throwing the frisbee for our dog, our weekends became filled with traipsing around the fascinating brocante markets and hunting out lovely treasures.

From fabulous bistro tables to gorgeous mid century French fabrics, a set of cinema seats from a theatre in Bordeaux to an elderly lady’s great-grandfather’s carpentry workbench, we have found some of the most amazing vintage pieces.

We would often remark that you just don’t see these kinds of things in our young country and the idea was born. So we carried on our crazy buying missions (which was not so much a hardship, as a complete joy/obsession) until we had filled a container to bring home and share our love of all things vintage with you. We have found some great bits and pieces with such character and charm that we hope you’ll love too.
